Natalia's Race for Life

Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 10k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Most of us can all relate to losing someone to cancer, or knowing someone going through an incredibly tough challenge of fighting cancerous diseases. Having personally fought a battle of leukaemia myself, I understand the struggle, the pain and the determination all cancer patients truly face throughout their journey of treatment and its life-long challenges. If it wasn't for research, medication and support, I can without a doubt say I would not be standing here today. I am 16 years cancer free and in my first year of being discharged from hospital. I feel incredibly lucky to be standing here, calling myself a cancer survivor and able to fight for other patients currently fighting their battle. Having also lost very dear members of family due to cruel illnesses that unfortunately have no cure, I understand the pain and devastation families and friends face. We need a cure for cancer, but also find a prevention for cancer too. This is why I have decided to run for the Race For Life. I’m determined to do all that I can to raise money for life-saving research so that more women, men and children survive cancer. With our donations and support we can make a difference and change what matters. The medical world has come a long way in recent years and this is down to research. Research is imperative to finding a cure for cancer, and hopefully a prevention. However for research to take place, we need to donate. No one deserves to be put through the torture of cancer.
