My Story
Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now. Donating through this page is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with Cancer Research UK. Five-or-so years ago, cancer was a word that I never really grasped the meaning of. It was not something that affected me – it was something that happened to other people and families. However, this changed a couple of years ago when my Uncle, Howard Rowles, was diagnosed with bowel cancer. Following this, in the beginning of 2017, my Nan, Diane Easton, and my Great Uncle, Stewart Easton, were both diagnosed with different cancers. Within the year, my family and I suffered their losses. They were robbed of so much, as were their loved ones. I feel everyone knows one person at the very least affected by cancer, and my eyes have been truly opened to what this disease is capable of. I would love to see more of us show cancer the middle-finger and raising as much money as I possibly can for Cancer Research will make this all the more possible. In the short term, the 5k is good for my health and fitness, but that is just a bonus. In the long term, I hope that my funds raised can help more people to beat cancer.
