Race For Life

Sun 29 Jul 2018

My Story

Hi everyone! I have decided to do the race for life with my mum this year. As some of you know I had my own experience with cancer last year. On 17th January 2017, after collapsing and needing emergency medical treatment, I was diagnosed with a medullablastoma (a tumour in my brain). It was the size of a satsuma! Doctors said they didn't know how long it had been growing for but they did a beyond amazing job and got it out and all cleared up; they said it was very messy when they got in there *ugh* They saved my life. Luckily, I survived the surgery and the intense treatment that got me to where I am today. I believe that having cancer (and surviving it!) was a blessing in disguise. I now have a much greater outlook on life and I am thankful everyday that I am here and able to enjoy it. Unfortunately, some people are not as lucky as me. They would still have to go through the treatment I did at the risk that there was no helping them. They are all such strong people. I cannot explain how strong. That is why I want to raise money for all types of Cancer. The amazing team at Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton where I recovered and was treated will receive a bulk of this money raised. I always said "if I have to be in hospital, I'm glad it's here". This is because it is truly remarkable. Aside from the medical treatment, it became my second home. Not just because I was in there for so long but because all the staff there were beyond lovely, and you need that when you're wondering if each day could be your last. 6 months ago it was very difficult for me to walk, I could barely walk 10 steps let alone even consider walking 5km. The thought of walking across a car park tired me out! I would love love love your help in raising money. Anything you can give, whether it be 50p or £5, will do the world of good. Please help me do what I can for the hospital that saved me.
