My Story
Milly and I are doing a 10K night walk for Cancer Research UK. Milly’s Grandad died following a diagnosis of a brain tumour which was very difficult for him and for Milly and her family to watch. My Nanna and Auntie were both diagnosed with breast cancer. However, my Nanna hid her lump from her family because she was frightened and as a result she later died due to the cancer being too advanced. My Auntie had a rare presentation of cancer which showed up on her mammogram, without attending her routine breast screening this would not have been found. This highlights the importance of cancer screening and early intervention and treatment. I previously worked as a nursing assistant on the Palliative Care Unit and later went on to become a Community nurse. As a result I have provided care to so many people in the last months/weeks/days of their life and have seen first hand the unfair reality of cancer. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s ground breaking work. Please donate to our Giving Page today and help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. If you can’t donate just sharing could help raise awareness and maybe even save a life. Thanks for reading 💖💖💙

CAUSE
Brain cancer
Each year in the UK, more than 9,400 people are diagnosed with tumours that start in the brain or elsewhere in the central nervous system. With more than 100 different types of brain tumour, donations can help Cancer Research UK find out what causes them and develop better treatments to improve the outlook for patients.
