My Story

The reason why my sister and I are running, climbing and sliding through gallons of mud is because my mum Tonya, sadly passed away due to lung cancer in 2012. I was only 7 at the time but I remember how sad and painful she was. she was unable to walk so she had a wheelchair, she had a nurse to come and bath her, she had to sleep downstairs on a hospital bed. During this, we stuck by her and never left the room without someone being there with her. We just couldn't face her being left alone so we slept on the sofa next to the bed , I felt terrible going into my room to have a goodnight sleep. But she was strong, so so strong, she would listen whilst I read my school book to her, she waited until I got home to speak to me. The devastation her family and friends had when she left us was unbearable. Her not being there was the hardest thing a 7 year old girl had to face, not having a mum anymore was like not having half of my body. It really changed me, I needed her especially when I got older. My mum didn't deserve the pain she had to go through, nobody does. cancer doesn't even deserve a capital letter it deserves to die not us. Even the tiniest donation will help them beat cancer, it needs to be cured,no family should have to face what we went through. My sister and I will hopefully sprint down that finish line covered in gallons of mud knowing that your donation might help to cure cancer. Thank you x
