Mike's Million

This is Mike's story of raising £1Million for Cancer Research UK. He's raised £956,000 so far and would love to reach his million! In his own words https://youtu.be/2rrIcculCts "I'm Michael Locke. My youngest daughter was affected by cancer and on her way back from her last chemotherapy session in London she suggested that she, in her words, would like to give something back." Since 1983 Michael made it his duty to reach one million for Cancer Research. "We've raised £956,000 and we've done it by any possible means. We did sponsored walks, we did store collections at supermarkets, we did house to house collections. You name it we did it! One of the things personally I've done, I've made and sold more than 2000 jars of marmalade which proved to be very popular in the area and now I can't stop people buying it." In 2007 Michael was awarded and MBE for his contribution towards Cancer Research. "And really, the MBE in my eyes, I always said the M was for me - Mike, B was for Bridget my wife, who is chairman and founder of the group and E is for everybody else who's helped. Undoubtedly the pandemic has affected us, because about 3 years ago, I did say that if I lived to 90 we would reach the million pounds. I have lived to 90 but we haven't achieved that, we've fallen short because of the pandemic." The pandemic has affected Mike and Bridget's efforts to achieve their £1 million goal but you can help...... "It makes you feel you've done something positive and it's given me a purpose, which I've enjoyed because I think I'm doing something useful with my life."
