I'm walking at Shine Night Walk for the 5th time in memory of my beautiful wife and soulmate Cazi

In memory of

My Story

Thank you so much for visiting my fundraising page, This year I am taking on the challenge of the full 26.2mile Shine Night Walk Marathon for a fifth time as a continuing tribute to my beautiful wife and soulmate Cazi who lost her battle with secondary Breast Cancer in 2013. As it is 20 years since Cazi and I got together this year I am also staging a Shine 4 Cazi Fundraising Ball on Saturday 6th October 2018 at The Derbyshire Hotel, South Normanton, Derby. DE55 2EH to help raise even more funds to support CRUK in its vital research into tackling Breast Cancer. Tickets are on sale now at £48 per person, for more information and tickets contact me at, you can also find out more and follow my journey on Facebook at "Shine for Cancer Research Mike Farley" Cazi was and will always be the love of my life, she always had time for everyone and lived life to the full, her beautiful smile brightened up everyone's day and her bubbly personality and positive approach to life, never letting her illness stop her making the most of every opportunity was truly inspirational. It is Cazi's inspiration, determination and drive that gives me the strength to take on Shine again this year and to organise the Ball. I know Cazi will be with me every step of the way throughout the challenge. I will be setting out from Southwark Park at 9.20pm on Saturday 22nd September and hope to cross the finish line at Old Billingsgate around 3.20am on Sunday 23rd September, 2018. Over the last four years I have raised just over £17,000 and walked 2,000 miles or the equivalent of 76 marathons, by the time I cross the finish line this year I will have walked a total 2,500 miles or the equivalent of 95 marathons since starting training for my first Shine Walk!!!!!! As I mentioned earlier its 20 years since Cazi and I met so It would be great if we could smash £20,000 overall this year which would create a fantastic legacy in Cazi's memory.I really hope you can support my fundraising efforts and help me build on what we have achieved over the last four years, it's such a great cause. I was very fortunate to be invited to one of Cancer Research UK's laboratories and met Professor Simak Ali who along with his Team are doing tremendous work on secondary Breast Cancer they are working on new approaches to earlier detection and developing new targeted treatments. Their work is truly inspiring and very exciting and gives me real hope that with your help we can bring forward the day when we will beat Breast Cancer. Great strides have already been achieved and survival rates are really improving as a result of such research. With your support we really can help ensure such vital research continues so we can bring that day forward and maintain an everlasting legacy in Cazi's name. Every Pound you donate really does make a difference, all of us have been touched by Cancer whether through friends, relatives or as in my case my soulmate. Cancer Research UK have made incredible strides in developing treatments and improving survival rates, but this work can only continue with your help so please dig deep. Breast cancer

With almost 140 women diagnosed every day, breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK. And, although rarer, around 350 men are also diagnosed with breast cancer every year. The good news is more than two-thirds of women now survive 20 years or more. Help Cancer Research UK find new ways to diagnose and treat the disease.
