My Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. This March I’m walking 10,000 steps a day throughout the month to help beat cancer. Help me Walk All Over Cancer and fund life-saving research by making a donation to my page. In February 2020 I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Not the best way to start the year right?! Even less so when having to do the treatment during a global Covid pandemic... It was shitty on so many levels - the multiple scans and biopsys, the radiotherapy mask that fixed me to the bed and made it feel hard to breath, the burn on the face from the treatment that burnt in a way I can't really explain, the mucositis in my mouth that effectively fused my lips together meaning I had to pry them apart with salt water every morning and the associated difficulties eating and talking (literally my favourite things in the world!). And then doing all of that during Covid meaning I couldn't come together with friends and family as I might have wanted to during this horrendous process. And yes, the above was really very shitty, but I could never be more grateful for the quick action of the cancer teams and the treatment that worked so well. All that was so possible because of the amazing research that has been done to date. I am grateful for that and so putting my feet into action to get some funds raised to keep the research going. I do it to say thanks for all that I had but also because I personally know others that are not as lucky as me, that are still struggling and possibly may not see things through to the other side. My journey was rough as hell, but literally a fraction of what others are still struggling with, so help me raise funds to support ongoing research that is so badly needed to support them.
