Our daughters 2yr+ cancer fight & to shout out for those who didn't make it. Cancer devastates lives
In memory of
Michelle - We're fighting back for you now
CANCER is a word we put ribbons around to make it prettier but it is a destroyer of families & lives. It can happen to anyone (which is impossible to fathom until it does!) In the summer of 2014 our then 3yr old daughter Isla came down with a bug! "It's probably viral!" I was told over & over. Regardless of night sweats the excruciating leg pain (taking us to a&e in early hours on numerous occasions) the sudden paleness of her skin & the fact that in my soul I knew it was cancer we spent almost 7 weeks trying to find any diagnosis that would be better. Finally following a bone marrow biopsy we got a call which will stay with me for the whole of my life "I'm so sorry, I know we said we were 99% certain it wasn't, but Isla has cancer" What followed that conversation can only be described as LIFE CHANGING & Carnage for a time. We have 5 sons Isla being our youngest & only daughter/sister- our boys were devastated. Cancer spent 2 & half years torturing our family it creeps into everything - relationships, finances, day to day living & most of all your mental health is challenged to it's limit - but still you have to work, try to be normal, be strong. Isla was given ALL CLEAR from Leukaemia on 23 December 2016. There are no guarantees for the future but she is doing amazingly well, she has her physical scars & a few blips in her mobility but she's alive, she's smiling, she is lucky - she beat cancer. Unfortunately during Isla's fight, amongst others we lost a very close family friend to cancer. Michelle passed away after a tough fight for her & her family - on Isla's 6th Birthday - a day that she will live on in & be remembered forever. PLEASE donate as much or as little as possible to fund our run under name of Michelle's Pink Ladies & support all of those families, friends & others who have or may live under the shadow of the C word in future. Let's kick cancers butt together
