Race for Life (A little poem to inspire)
It felt just like a mountain with a snow-covered peak
To run for five kilometres in the simmering heat
Like a channel of stormy water that needed to be swum
It left me feeling breathless and really rather glum
But start it off I must do, one foot in front of the other
For everyone who’s lost a child, a friend or a lover
For all those men and women, who’ve battled with the pain
We’ll run this race with you in mind you won’t have fought in vain
I’m running with my army, we’re all dressed up in pink
We’re every different shape and size with a single goal I think?
To beat what we call CANCER, once and for all
And never have to watch again the innocent as they fall
The reality of this disease has been brought home to me this last year and so, I felt it was time to lose some weight, get fit(er) and do something for all those who are going through what I hope I will never have to. So please give generously and let's see if we can make a difference.
Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives.
1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now.
