My Story

On Saturday 13th June, I’ll be taking part in the Pretty Muddy Run for Race for Life - and I’ll be doing it in full drag. 💖 This isn’t just a run for me. This is something deeply personal, something that sits heavy in my heart, and something I feel more determined than ever to do. Cancer is a cruel, relentless disease. It doesn’t care who you are, how strong you are, or how loved you are. It takes, and it takes far too much. That’s why fundraising, awareness, and coming together for causes like Race for Life has always meant so much to me. It’s not just about the event - it’s about standing up, showing up, and fighting back in any way we can. But this year… this year is different. On Sunday 5th April, we lost my beautiful cousin, Sam New, after her battle with cancer. She was diagnosed just 17 months ago, and early this year, she was told it was Stage 4 terminal. Even hearing those words didn’t stop her strength. Sam fought with everything she had. The loss is something words can’t fully describe. Sam wasn’t just one thing - she was everything to so many people. A wife. A mother. A daughter. A sister. A friend. A family member. She was love, she was laughter, she was strength, and she was someone who brought light into every room she walked into. She was truly loved by everyone who knew her. And that’s why I’m doing this. Every step through the mud, every moment of exhaustion, every laugh, every challenge - I’ll be doing it for Sam. I’ll be doing it for everyone we’ve lost, everyone still fighting, and everyone whose lives have been touched by cancer. Doing this in full drag is my way of bringing joy, colour, and strength into something so heavy - because even in the darkest times, we deserve to celebrate life, to honour those we’ve lost, and to stand proud in who we are while doing it. I’m determined more now than ever to make a difference, no matter how big or small. Because if sharing Sam’s story, raising awareness, and supporting this cause helps even one person… then it means everything. Let’s keep fighting. Let’s keep remembering. Let’s keep showing up. Because cancer may take so much… but it will never take our love, our memories, or our determination to stand together and make a change💕 Whether you decide to donate, share, like, comment or support in anyway…I will be incredibly thankful.
