Mel's Marathon of Hope
Thank you for visiting my Fundraising Page, inspired by two of my heros: Terry Fox and my Grandpa Gary. 42 years ago, after being diagnosed with cancer and having his leg amputated, Canadian hero 🇨🇦 Terry Fox, started preparing to run a marathon a day to cross Canada, raising funds and awareness for cancer research. His dream was a dollar per Canadian. My goal is to raise £42 000. I aim to complete Terry's cross-Canada run by biking 42 km a day to complete the 5300 mile trek (virtually). 🚴♀️ 13 years ago, my Grandpa Gary was diagnosed with lymphoma. That summer was terrible! Since then he has been in and out of remission and I am pleased to say I still have him. 💕 As such, I will be raising money specifically for lymphoma research.
Survival rates for many types of lymphoma has increased significantly – now, twice as many people survive non-Hodgkin lymphoma as in the 1970s. And four out of five people will survive Hodgkin's lymphoma, compared to fewer than half of patients in the 1970s. Help Cancer Research UK improve effective treatments and survival with your donation.
With Cancer Research UK Giving Pages more of the money raised goes towards beating cancer. Aside from the credit and debit card fees, every penny donated goes to Cancer Research UK.
All donations made to this page will automatically be transferred to Cancer Research UK.
