Melissa's Race for Life
Exeter 10k 2018
Sun 22 Jul 2018
I’ve decided to partake in a 10k Race for Life to raise all important funds for Cancer Research UK.
In memory of
Sarah Thompson, Patrica Thompson & all other family members who have suffered/fought cancer.
Cancer is all too common in my family. I’ve witnessed very close family members fight and overcome as well as lose their battle with this disease. So, taking inspiration from my late Auntie, I’ve decided that it's time to fight back and raise vital funds to help beat cancer. For those who know me, know that I’m no runner - a gym goer, yes, but definitely not a runner. Therefore, on my first fundraising mission, I’ve decided to challenge myself and run a 10k Race for Life which is taking place on July 22nd at Westpoint, Exeter. Not only this, but I’ve given myself the personal goal of jogging the whole way and hopefully in good time too. (edit - now that training has begun, this personal goal is looking less likely but I'm going to try!) I’m planning to start training in April and once I have a better idea of my ability I’ll set myself a goal time to complete the run in. Wish me luck and please sponsor me! Together we do our bit to help try and beat the b*tch that is cancer.
