In memory of
Savta, my beautiful, brave grandmother
It was six years ago when I first heard of cancer, I was five years old. My mum had breast cancer. I didn't know what it was and I just remember mum coming out of the bathroom with all of her hair being shaved off and me crying and confused. Fortunately, she survived and is still here today :-). But then exactly a year later I discovered that my grandma, who I loved dearly, caught an extremely rare form of ovarian cancer. Only three people a year in the UK catch this type of cancer. I must have thought "Is this happening again? Oh, well, savta will survive like imma did." Then mum said that savta was terminally ill and had been given six months to live. But my brave savta kept fighting for two and a half years before she passed. I want to help more people who have cancer so their families can enjoy more time with them.
