My Story
Firstly, THANK YOU for taking the time to read my ‘Just Giving’ page 😊 Much appreciated !!! In the UK alone 1 in 8 women will receive a Breast Cancer diagnosis. Cancer survival rate is thankfully improving and has doubled in the UK in the last 40 years. This is due to the amazing Scientists, Consultants, Specialists and Charities that dedicate their lives to make this possible. (Not forgetting the people like you and me who contribute by raising money in aid of research in areas not publicized) for example, help in funding travel to receive treatment is just one of many. The list is endless! For me, 2019 got off to a very good start, but then my world was turned upside down as I was diagnosed with early stage Breast Cancer (and only by chance) I'd had a clear mammogram 8 weeks earlier so I was very unprepared for the diagnosis I received. The message here Ladies is please please keep a healthy check on yourselves. If something doesn't seem right go with your instinct ! The shock, fear and emotions you go through are unthinkable - it really is tough but the support available to me was incredible. And a lot of this support is provided by charitable organisations. The quality of care and support is second to none and really helped me with making sense of the situation, enabling me to understand my diagnosis, prognosis, treatment plans, right through to how to explain to my family what to expect. 29th JUNE - JOIN ME?: So, as a way of gratitude, I would like to try and give a little back. Every little donation helps to contribute towards fighting this horrific disease. I am running (?) Ok... maybe brisk walking ‘The Race For Life’ on 29th June at Kempton Park in memory of those we have loved and lost and those who are still living with Cancer. However much you donate will go towards providing research, enabling longer, better quality of lives and treatment for those who are and will have to go through this. And, one day, I pray, hopefully a cure will be found. So PLEASE dig deep OR join me on June 29th !!! We are forming quite a team now and everyone is welcome 👍🏼 the more the merrier So a big thank you for reading my page and thank you for contributing. Xxxx, Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now.
