My Story
Maureen Kelly, the beloved wife of Neil and loving mother of Sophie, Emily and Harriet passed away peacefully at home, with her loved ones by her side, on the evening of Thursday 26th March. Maureen was also a much loved Grandmother to her three grandsons Bradley, Edward and Arthur as well as a dear sister, auntie, cousin, and friend to many. When diagnosed with the rare form of ovarian cancer, primary peritoneal cancer, Maureen took the fight head on, just like she did with most things in her life. She left no stone unturned on her path to finding remission but unfortunately the treatments she received were ultimately unsuccessful. Maureen was a a true light of life, a fearless, kind, strong and determined character. Organising a charity walk of the Yorkshire 3 peaks and raising nearly £10,000 for Cancer research was one of the few highlights of her illness and something she was incredibly proud of herself and her family and friends who participated for achieving! Maureen supported fundraising for cancer research as she had hoped that the fundraising would one day lead to the cure to free her from her own battle she was fighting. As this was not the case, we know Maureen would still want the funds raised to potentially save anybody else who is in a similar position. As a successful career lady, with great family values, Maureen had a lot to be proud of in her life. Her fight against cancer and the support she gave for funding the research is another achievement she will always be remembered for. Maureen will be put to rest on Wednesday 8th April at 11.40 am, we ask that at this time all family, friends and loved ones commemorate this moment in anyway they choose and to make a donation in memory of the legend herself Maureen Kelly.
