My Story
Every 90 seconds a person in the UK is diagnosed with cancer. As many of you know, back in October I was diagnosed with bowel cancer. I was fortunate and was in for major surgery by the end of November to remove the tumour. Part of the outcome of the surgery is I now have a stoma, with the plan being ti have it removed in the future. I have decided that later this year I will complete the “National 3 Peak Challenge”, climbing the three highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales, all within 24 hours to raise money for Cancer Research UK. The challenge is set over 24 hours and will see me covering over 450 miles by car, from Scotland, to England and then to Wales, climbing Ben Nevis, Skafell Pike and Snowden. This will be a combined climb of 3,050m and walking in excess of 23 miles. The plan - Saturday 1st of July 5pm: Arrive in Fort William and Start Ben Nevis 10pm: Finish Ben Nevis and drive to Scafell Pike (6 hour drive - time to get your nap on) 4am: Arrive and start ascending Scafell Pike (flapjacks highly recommended here) 8am: Finish Scafell Pike and drive to Snowdon (5 hour drive) 1pm: Arrive and start climbing Snowdon (are you delirious yet?) 5pm: Finish Snowdon, and complete challenge. Do a celebratory dance. 5.15pm: Beers!!!!
