My Story
I've decided to set myself a huge personal challenge of running my first half-marathon in support of Cancer Research UK. On Sunday 8th September 2019 I will be taking part in the Great North Run. I have been a keen runner for over two years now but have never ran more than 13 kilometres (which was a struggle!). So whilst I'm a little bit apprehensive I know the worthy cause I'm supporting will help me get over the finish line! I'm running to support the amazing work Cancer Research UK undertake but also for everyone who suffers directly/indirectly from this horrendous disease. I don't think there's anybody that cancer doesn't impact in some way. Some key individuals very close to my heart that I'm running in memory of are: * My brave mum Katrina Jeffs who beat breast cancer. * My selfless mother-in-law Rosemary Kirby who sadly lost her battle with cancer in 2012. * My gorgeous, good friend Bianca Grainger who sadly passed away from bowel cancer in 2017. Many thanks for your support and I promise to give the run my all! Matt
