My Story
Matt - This year BT is Stand Up To Cancers official gaming partner. I’m getting payback on cancer this October by teaming up with my colleagues at BT and doing a series of gaming challenges to raise money for Stand Up To Cancer. All the money I raise will help take breakthroughs in the lab and transforms them into treatments and cures for cancer patients who need them right now. So why not dig deep and donate on this page to sponsor me, and together we can show cancer who’s in control. Craig - This month will see BT and our site support the charity Stand Up 2 Cancer, with the focus on gaming as a method to raise money for Cancer Research UK. Why does this charity strike accord with me? These last 12 months have been an emotional rollercoaster for me. I lost my step father to Bowel Cancer which had a lasting impact on my family. My wife and me were then struck with even worse news that any parent dreads or never hope to happen, our 19 month old daughter Evie early this year had lung cancer which started off which difficulties at birth. It left us crippled and we didn’t know what to do and how to cope. After an emergency operation and treatment at the Birmingham Childrens Hospital she fought it and beat it. All of this cannot be tackled without the support from friends, family, doctors, nurses and colleagues. I thank them all for the support we had and that’s why it is vital for research and the support which Cancer Research provide day in day out. For the last 10 years I have been a Video Games Journalist and done many charity livestreams to raise money for such as Special Effect, The Critical Care Unit in Stoke, Guide Dogs and for Douglas MacMilan. I will be doing more than that this time around. I will be targeting through the month of October 500 hours in Streaming. Featuring some of the newest games and classics, starting this Wednesday with Forza Horizon 4 and Assassins Creed Odyssey. Jack - I will be taking part in my very first gaming stream this year to raise money and support for Stand Up To Cancer as part of BT Stokes Game On challenge. The fight against cancer is very important to my family. I have lost both of my grandparents to this horrible disease and have another 2 family members going through the struggle . I will be including a multitude of different games in this stream as well as including the link on my personal Facebook page. To view the stream and the donation page please add me on facebook and make sure you share what's posted. The more people that see it the more money we can raise for a great cause.”
