My Story
5 years clear of cancer but certainly no wiser. We discussed when I was unwell we would do something to fund raise and celebrate being clear of cancer when we could. I assumed a 5k run or a 10K walk would be enough, but Holly had other ideas! Before I knew it, she had signed us up as a dad and daughter duo to trek the Himalayas for the Bowelbabe Fund Dalai Lama Indian Himalaya Trek, to raise money for the Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research UK. For those of you who know me you will realise I am passionate about working with Cancer Research and Bowelbabe fund as I am one of the lucky ones here to talk about my experience to raise awareness and help one day to find a cure for cancer. Far too many people we know have been taken by this disease including my much missed and loved sister Harriette who passed away in June 2019. The 11 day Himalayan expedition involves a trek walking 15 - 20 km per day at high altitude and camping out in the mountains, watching Holly struggle with no WiFi or make-up mirror (don't worry I will send photos of her melt downs!). For some reason Stef and Leo declined to join us, something to do with the lack of toilets and showers en route! This is something so far out of our comfort zones, and the training most definitely matches this. We are aiming to raise as much money as possible for this fantastic cause so please give generously and we will post photos of each other struggling. We really appreciate any support you can give. Thanks Matt and Holly
