Cancer Research UK Family Twilight Walk East Kilbride

About this event: Join us at East Mains Baptist Church on 20th March 2020 for a Family 2.5km or a 5km walk around the East Kilbride followed by a Candle of Hope ceremony to remember those who are fighting cancer or who are no longer with us. On the day: Registration opens at 6pm where you can pick up your Cancer Research UK t-shirt and candle bag for the Candle of Hope Ceremony. The 5km walk starts at 6.30pm followed by the the 2.5km walk at 6.40pm the Candle of Hope Ceremony will begin at 8.15pm. Each participant is invited to place a decorated Candle Bag in memory of someone they love who has been affected by cancer. Hot & cold drinks will be available as well as stalls and entertainment. Registration for adults is £10, £5 for 12-16 year olds and under 12s are free. Participants are asked to try and raise a minimum of £50 to fund ground-breaking research for Cancer Research UK. Income target is £10,000 and last amount raised was £6,500. Registration includes a free Cancer Research UK t-shirt and a candle bag for the Candle of Hope Ceremony. All children under 18 must be accompanied by a registered adult.

Cancer survival rates have doubled over the past 40 years. Consistent progress is being made but improvements to technology and ground-breaking work offer new opportunities to find different ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer and improve survival rates even further. Help Cancer Research UK improve results even faster.
