My Story
Cancer is happening right now, which is why Team MaJuKa are taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. Marisa Hampshire's father-in-law, lost his battle with cancer in March this year aged 76. Her mother-in-law died 15 years ago after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Despite having 2 slipped discs previously, degenerative discs and arthritis in her lower back, Marisa has registered in memory of John and Judy Hampshire. She says, "It may be more of a fast walk/slow jog than a run, but it will be heart-felt". Julie Brown's father died of bowel cancer and her mum has suffered twice with breast cancer. She is running in memory of her dad, Barry, for her mum, Cindy, and for all the other people currently suffering with cancer. Julie has a big heart and simply, "wants to help this very worthy cause". Katie McGuiness recently underwent an operation on her heart. Despite this, she is taking part and running in memory of Lyn McGuiness, aka 'Granny Dobby', her late mother-in-law who died of cancer. All Katie's family and friends are very proud of her progress and admire her determination to take part. Katie, "wants to, 'do her bit', to help fight the battle against cancer". Together, Team Majuka are hoping their small contribution towards cancer research will help those currently suffering from the disease and those who will be diagnosed in future. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor us if you can. Wish us luck!!! XXX
