MY BEST FRIEND ALANA KELLY AND MY NEPHEWS/BROTHER IN LAWS GRANDAD/DAD - ALAN SUMMERS XX
I am taking on this personal challenge for a number of reasons. My best friend Alana Kelly lost her battle with cancer in 2017 at the age of 37. Then in 2018 my dad was diagnosed with cancer and has been undergoing treatment. In 2019 my nephew lost his other grandad Alan Summers after a long battle with cancer. There are more and more people being affected by it everyday and statistics state that 1 in 2 people will get some form of cancer! Everyone knows someone that has been affected by it!! So I am taking on this challenge of swimming 22 miles equivalent of the channel between 8th September-2nd December 2019 to raise money for Cancer Research UK’s Stand Up to Cancer campaign by taking on the Sink or Swim Channel Challenge. The money raised will help take breakthroughs in the lab and transforms them into treatments and cures for cancer patients who need them right now.
