My Story
Cancer is happening right now. To my mum. She was diagnosed with grade 3 breast cancer on the 5th January 2017. Her treatment started with chemotherapy and at the time of writing this she's been through 5 cycles and has 1 left scheduled just a few days before this Race for Life. Then she will face surgery followed by radiotherapy. She's 46. This shouldn't be happening to her, to our family. She's not overweight, doesn't smoke and was physically fit and healthy before this. So why her? It seems no-one can answer that question. So we all need to fundraise for more research to find the answers that so many desperately need, to look for new treatments, to help with treatment side effects - to save more lives. On the 11th June I will be running RFL alongside some of mum's friends. She wanted to run with us but the timing of her final chemo means she just can't. She wants to be there cheering us on - but that does depend on whether she's well enough. But she want's to be a part of it and to support us all. And she's so pig-headed she might just make it.
