My Story
There are lots of reasons to support the fight against Cancer and we all have our stories and experiences. I would like to share mine. Mine is a small family and we're all very close. Unfortunately, during the last few years, cancer has affected several members of my family. When your nearest and dearest are affected, it really is heart-breaking. In 2015, we lost Auntie. She was one of the true lights in my life, my third parent. She battled against Breast cancer, which unfortunately returned within a year. Her first battle took it out of her and she lost her fight. Around the same time, Dad was diagnosed with a tumour on his kidney. This was successfully removed. Dad has been more fortunate in that despite a few scares, the cancer has been in remission for several years although he is now starting treatment to prevent it spreading. On top of this, my partner and I have lost close friends and relatives to cancer. It has no boundaries, no scruples. It can affect anyone regardless or age, creed or gender. I want to support people like Dad and Auntie, by improving our knowledge of cancer and helping with the development of effective treatments. In running the Great North Run, I want to raise awareness and funds. Help me smash my fundraising target. Your contributions will be appreciated, not just by me, but by all those, past, present and future who has been affected by cancer. Thank you so much for any help you can give.
