My Story

Our story On Thursday 2 August, 12 strong, influential and inspirational women will burst through the stalls on magnificent racehorses, thundering over 5.5 furlongs in a flash of beautiful, colourful, bespoke silks with one goal: to help beat cancer sooner. Cancer Research UK has been at the heart of progress towards beating cancer in the UK and continues to tackle women’s cancers on all fronts – from improving the prevention of breast and cervical cancers to overcoming treatment resistance in ovarian cancer. The courageous jockeys will support Cancer Research UK’s battle against women’s cancer by taking part in the Qatar Goodwood Festival Magnolia Cup. Whether they have spent their careers fighting to reach the upper echelons of business, fighting to be heard in politics, fighting to compete at elite levels of sport or fighting to realise a creative vision, these powerful, high-profile women have dedicated months of intense training to ride in the Magnolia Cup in support of Cancer Research UK. These brave women may not be professional jockeys, and some may not have even sat on a horse in their lives, but their resilience and determination will shine through to ultimately help Cancer Research UK reach its ambition of seeing 3 in 4 people surviving their cancer for 10 years or more by 2034.
