I'm taking on a Race for Life 5k Pretty Muddy and a Race for Life 10k the next day to raise money to beat cancer
In memory of
Paul Skeet & Susan Corbishley
In the photo above on the left you can see me 20 years ago at Medical School - I'm the cheeky one on the right, standing with (left to right) Damian (Emma's husband-to-be), Jenny, Emma, and Susan. Around that time Emma's mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. A few years later I would lose my Dad to leukaemia. 20 years on Susan sadly lost her personal fight against breast cancer - she was diagnosed a few years ago, and lived life to the full right up to the end. Last year Emma was diagnosed with breast cancer, a few years after another friend from Medical School had also been diagnosed and successfully treated. Emma has rallied against her cancer with the same enthusiasm, determination, and grace that she tackles everything in life, supported by her lovely husband Damian and their five children - that's her in the photo on the right today. I've been inspired by Emma to take part in these events because cancer is happening all around us all the time, and we are learning new ways every day to beat it and help the people who it affects to live better lives, but that takes money to fund. My daughter and her friends are joining in on the Pretty Muddy, and Emma has a massive crew participating with her on one or both events, including her mum, mum-in-law, sister, daughters, and many friends. I am proud to be one of Emma's Mighty Women. Please give what you can. Lynsey xxx
