My Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page. Cancer is happening right now, which is why I’m fundraising right now for Cancer Research UK. There’s no time to lose! Donate to my page today if you can and help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. My story and why I’m doing the shave a second time Our family has had a really rough 5 years dealing with cancer. My sister Jan as many of you will know was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, which was very scary indeed. She is an amazing strong woman indeed and fights every day of her life to get through this. We had a saying “well big girl knickers time” She has now completed 5, yes 5 courses of chemo as it keeps returning. Thankfully she is still with us today 😍 🙏and this was when I decided to do my 1st fund raiser, I was totally blown away with everyone’s generosity as we raised 5k!! Then 2 years later we had our second blow with cancer and the Big Girl knickers made there second appearance! My l eldest daughter Helen who was 32 and a new mum, was diagnosed with breast cancer, as a mum this was a very scary time. She was miss diagnosed and sadly it turned into a full blown cancer. Thankfully when it was finally diagnosed her cancer team were totally amazing. She has had all the treatment needed and is now cancer free. She does have does have some long term side effect from the chemo, however she is amazing at dealing with them. It certainly was a very hard time as a mum seeing your baby go through such an ordeal, when it could have been prevented. So I then celebrated my 60th birthday with the biggest party I could do as we called it “Celebration of life” to raise money for cancer research, we raised a whopping £4K which again blew me away. So 18 months on for the 3rd time those Big Girl Knickers have made a 3rd appearance 🤣🤣🤣. I make fun of this saying because I’d cry otherwise. I was diagnosed with Thyroid lymphoma B-cell which is quite rare but very aggressive. However the prognosis is positive with a full recovery 🙏🙏. They are also testing me for an even more rare cancer called Mantel Cell Lymphoma but we won’t know the results for another 3 weeks. But sadly this isn’t curable but treatable, so fingers crossed 🤞that it comes back negative I will be loosing my hair, so this time I want to be In full control of it. As I know how it feels as a woman to at least have no hair with the shave I did last time. So I do have an insight to how it makes a person feel. This massively affected my mental health and I said I’d never do it again! But I never thought in a million years that is actually be faced with loosing my hair through cancer. Well those who know me will know my attitude to dealing with things! BIG GIRL knickers are back on again. I started my treatment yesterday and I can’t paise the care I received at Aintree Clatterbridge hospital, they where all amazing people. So pleas help me raise my goal and kick ass to cancer!! As you all know the charity needs the support to come up with new treatments for lots of various cancers. The stats are 1 in 2 people get cancer, we’ve already had 2 and now a 3rd!! You don’t realise how close to home it can be. We can do so much more to beat this disease as cancer has no boundaries on who it attacks. Love you all and please help me raise as much as we can. If you are in a position where you can donate please do, but if you can’t please don’t worry as I know it’s hard time for lots of people, but please share this page. Once again thank you so much for staying and resting my story. Lots of love Lynne, Mick & family ❤️❤️❤️💖💖💖

CAUSE

Lymphoma

Survival rates for many types of lymphoma has increased significantly – now, twice as many people survive non-Hodgkin lymphoma as in the 1970s. And four out of five people will survive Hodgkin's lymphoma, compared to fewer than half of patients in the 1970s. Help Cancer Research UK improve effective treatments and survival with your donation.
