My dad Eugene who died at 51 from throat cancer.

In memory of

Eugene Hooper

My Story

My Dad's radiation treatment after operations left him burned. I was only 14 when he died and I wish I'd had the chance to know him more and have him share in my life. My favourite memories are of running to meet him when he came home from work and holding his hand. I felt so safe. Standing on his feet to dance at my cousins weddings and him listening to Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong. Always brings a tear to my eye when I listen to it. Dance with my father again also has special meaning because of this memory but both songs bring him nearer. I am doing this in his memory and to help with cancer research. I am proud to take part in this challenge with my sister Moira, her daughter and my Goddaughter Kerry, and friends Pam and Bev. Each of us know the pain of seeing loved ones battle with this disease and lose, and the heartbreak and loss that never goes away. I am retiring at the end of July and want to do more to help others and feel this is a positive start. I would love it if you just give me encouragement in my training photo album on my Facebook page and wish me luck and if you see me walking or running feel free to yell at me!
