My Story
Hi everyone, I’m taking part in Race For Life 2019 this weekend in memory of my beautiful friend Hetal, who touched the lives of so many, and who I miss everyday. Hetal was diagnosed with Breast Cancer at 35 weeks pregnant with her second child and was told it was in the early stages. Not long after she gave birth to her beautiful baby girl she was given the devastating news that it had already spread to her bones and was terminal. She fought her battle with strength, positivity and enormous courage, which still amazes me to this day. She was an incredible human being, I can only ever strive to be as amazing as her. I was signed up for Race For Life last year but sadly didn’t compete as I spent the weekend of the race at her bedside saying my goodbyes. I’m running, walking, possibly crawling this race with some other lovely friends, who have all lost their close relatives recently to this devastating disease. Let’s be frank here, none of us can be described as fit... and our training sessions have been more or less non existent, not through want of trying. So this will be a huge challenge for all of us, and is also a way of kickstarting our own fitness, as our health is too important to take for granted. If you can spare a pound or two, please give what you can. Every penny will count towards our motivation to complete the course as well as raising money for much needed cancer research. I’ll be thinking of you all whilst taking part as well as Hetal’s beautiful family and all my family and friends who’s lives have been touched by this dreadful disease. Let’s do this!
