My Story
On Father's Day, Sunday 15th June, our family will be taking part in a family race for Luke at Langhams Hall Estate. We will be choosing from 3 exciting races (not mountains or peaks!!). Florence will be competitively trying to steal the lead from Grandad (Graham) in the 2k race. In the 5k, Alex and Frances (Nanny) will be admiring some of the wildflowers within the beautiful grounds while Russell, Ruby and Darcy will be locking horns in the 10k race. The event is being hosted by Designed by Sports and all races are chipped timed; so let’s see who stays on track and does not deviate towards the live band, BBQ’s and beer tents. Just some of the things Luke was passionate about and loved doing. Togetherness, exercise, music, beer tents, dogs and a fun loving atmosphere. Luke passed two and half years ago after he had been battling an extremely rare form of cancer. For five years he remained so incredibly positive and continued to have such a positive influence on those around him. Despite everything, he remained the most caring and loving Husband, Dad, Son and Brother you could ever ask for, not only towards family but friends and everyone he knew. This extended admiration for Luke also touched his medical team who also grew to love his incredible and positive mind set. Even today, Luke is pinnacle to so many of our family fun and loving conversations. Throughout his life, Luke helped so many people get started in their own personal journeys and in so many different ways. He was somebody whose company you always wanted to be in and we are so grateful to have had him in our lives. We will never get over losing Luke, we talk about him and feel him with us, every single day. As a family we have been touched and overwhelmed from so many inspiring challenges that have gone before us and will most definitely be more that will follow ours. We have a shared emotional connection like so many of you, to continue to raise money in Luke's name for cancer research, so we can help other families fight against such an awful disease and one day find a cure. We thought it was a better and probably safer way of supporting Luke’s foundation, by running, rather than the aeroplane wing walk that Grandad wanted to do in the first instance or Nanny Sky diving with Sam!! Phew! Luke is loved by so many and he will forever be in all of our hearts as he lives on in all of us. 💕
