My Story
This year will mark my 12th season volunteering for Cancer Research UK. After initially signing up for just one event, I became a key volunteer across the Welsh events. Last year was very different, with all events being sadly cancelled. This year year will again be different with all events being postponed until autumn. However, despite the chaos the world is currently going through in the wake of COVID-19, cancer doesn't stop, it is still affecting people every day. Therefore, my sister and I will be taking part in the Race for Life at Home on 24th April 2021. I'm aiming to raise £50. Why Cancer Research UK? My Grandma was diagnosed with lung cancer and sadly passed away in 2010. This inspired me to find out what I could do to help fight cancer which led to volunteering for several Race for Life events across South Wales. Since this my mother has survived breast cancer, my cousin has survived cervical cancer and unfortunately I lost my grandfather to cancer. I have also had several friends who have both won and lost their battles. Each of these experiences has spurred me on even more to do my bit. The money raised from taking part in this event will help more people like my family and friends to survive this awful disease. Thank you for donating - every penny counts for Cancer Research UK to continue their life saving research.
