My Story
Just before Christmas in 2016 I was diagnosed with lobular breast cancer.....5 days later, whilst discussing ivf options with a consultant I found out I was pregnant! Whilst exciting, this came with its own challenges.... my cancer was hormone receptive so not only did the pregnancy mean that I couldn’t have some of the diagnostic tests to check the extent of my cancer, it also could potentially worsen my cancer. As future drug therapy would render me infertile, and as I’d already suffered a miscarriage 6 months earlier, termination wasn’t an option. On January 13th 2017 i had a mastectomy and then put all other treatment on hold until I’d given birth to a baby boy. I’m one of the lucky ones..... Im going to honest....i occasionally whinge about the side effects of my drug therapy, but Finn has just had his first birthday and I’m able to cuddle him every morning when he wakes up and kiss him every night when he goes to sleep, not everyone is that fortunate.
