Lucy's run for Cancer Research
2018 Cardiff University Cardiff Half Marathon
Sun 7 Oct 2018
I’m running a half marathon to raise money to fight cancer and honour those who've lost their lives.
Last month my boyfriend's Dad lost his life to Prostate Cancer. It was a long, hard fight for him but he was strong and fought each stage of the battle head on. He was determined to stay active and kept doing all the things he loved for as long as he could. When a loved one is ill, family and friends will want to do everything they can to help, but at the same time, they feel helpless as nothing they will do can make the pain disappear.I know there was nothing myself or any of his family could have done to make his illness disappear but what we can do is raise money for research which will save lives by improving the cancer care and treatment. I will be running the Cardiff Half Marathon on 7th October 2018 to raise money for Cancer Research. This will be a HUGE challenge for me as running is not something I enjoy and really have to force myself to do. The furthest I've ran is 10km so to double this (and a bit more) will be a massive test of my stamina. Please donate even the smallest amount to honour those who have lost their lives to cancer and to save future lives!
