My daughter Lavinia ?
Me and Lavinia and Lavinias big sister Ciara will all be doing the race for life ? My little baby girl was diagnosed at 8and a half months with retinoblastoma, a rare childhood cancer in her eye. They think she has little to no vision in her eye and she had a grade d (e being the worst) tumour. She received cryotherapy direct into her eye before her chemotherapy started. She then started her first cycle of chemotherapy on 21/11/16, at 9 months old. She unfortunately got croup and spent several nights in hospital, her blood levels were then very low and so her next cycle was delayed. She received her 2nd cycle 2 weeks late and then she had RSV, and again spent several nights in hospital. After her third cycle she was the poorliest I have ever seen her. We were transferred from our local to a main hospital, we were in hospital for about 2 weeks. Lavinia had a line infection and had emergency surgery to have it removed, she had sepsis from the infection. They gave her a temporary line in her neck which stopped working and had to be removed. Lavinia then had another line inserted. She went on to have her following 3 cycles of chemotherapy with no temperatures. However she received 3 blood transfusions and has had to spent many days in isolation because her blood levels have been so low. She completed her chemotherapy on 28/3/17. I'm running for my brave little lamb and everything she's had to go through so far in her short life ???
