My Story
Our grandad has been affected by cancer for many years, with new diagnoses, treatments and hospital visits taking much of his time and independence away from him. Recently, doctors discovered a number of tumours within his face that, if left untouched, would have caused the loss of his life. Doctors were able to provide him with a life changing operation that removed this cancer, and reconstructed his face to ensure he doesn't look to different to his old self. This operation has been a major event for my grandad, and all of his family who care so dearly for him. Me and my sisters (Stephanie and Tory) decided we would run in honour of his constant persistence and bravery when fighting his disease. He has never complained. He has never wanted fuss. He has never let cancer beat him. We are so proud of him and hope he is able to see this through the fact that we are getting ourselves together, and running while he can watch.
