My Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page. My mum was diagnosed with stage 3 bowel cancer early 2022 (around may). She later got surgery to remove the cancer in June and then went on chemo however it wasnt easy. Her blood holds the chemo for too long and it caused problems (DPD). It was a very rocky journey as there was so many ups and downs. Some days were great, however other days were terrible. My mum had to protect me and my brother from the scary parts of cancer and by doing that she went to live at my grandmother's house where she was resting. I rarely ever saw her. After a while on chemo my grandmother and many other family members noticed my mum was getting worse on chemo so they stopped giving her the treatment. My mum was then told that she can no longer go on chemo as her body Toxicity levels were too high. She then got a scan to tell her if she still had cancer. We had waited nearly 2 months. And those two months, well, we hated them. The days became so nerve-wracking as the results day finally crept closer. The results were either "You no longer have cance!" Or the other consequence. By February I was sitting in my room on my phone, minding my own business, until I heard my mum shout "kids! Come down, Quick!!" I ran down stairs so fast, unaware of the oncoming news. Me and my brother stood infront of my mum as she revealed the news. She was in remission. We just stood there, I burst out into tears. I think we all did to be honest. And we shared the biggest hug humanely possible. Now my mum is cancer free, everything is back to normal! You may think that. My mum now has to take So many pills everyday. Neuropathy still affects her and probably will for the rest of her life. Her bowels are all put together differently and she Was diagnosed with LARS. There is always a chance for the cancer to come back. But we are all adapting to the new "Normal" and continuing our lives as it was.
