My Story

This November, I am excited to share that I will be swimming 10km to raise money for Cancer Research UK. When I first signed up in bed one night, I told myself: why not? It is an important cause, and cancer affects so many poeple nowadays. I am already undertaking some triathlon training every week, so it felt like a challenge I could definitely take on. Training for something that really matters gives every session more meaning. I don't want to just tick off this 10Km, but I would like to fight and push myself beyond that mark in memory of all of the people who fought and are currently fighting against Cancer. The more I think about it, the more personal this challenge becomes. I lost both my grandparents on dad's side to cancer. I did not manage to meet my grandfather, and share moments with him while my grandmother was fighting multiple cancer at a time when I was young. My aunt has faught a few as well and still fighting now, and she is showing incredible strength which I am extremely proud of. My dad has also faught through a tumerous cancer a few month, faught against it and I am extremely proud of him. A few weeks ago, a close family friend passed away. Being at the funeral was one of the saddest days I have had, and it showed me the pain a lot of people have to experience everyday from this. So I would like to swim this month for them, swim for a purpose and in memory of my grandparents, family friend, and my aunt who is fighting through. If you can, please donate. You will not donate this money to me but for research against cancer, funding research into ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer, so nobody has to experience this pain.
