What they say...Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now. Donating through this page is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with Cancer Research UK. Why is it important to me??...Two people, very close to our hearts have been recently diagnosed within 5 months of each other. Matilda's Granny (my mum-in-law) and her Grandad (my dad). This has been a testing time with the first diagnosis being just a few days before my last cancer fundraising run making it a considerably tough day. Luckily, Matilda's Granny insisted that the doctor's took her seriously when they tried to dismiss her symptoms. In a rapid length of time she has undergone an operation to remove the cancer, consequentially last month being given the all clear. We are so happy about as you can imagine. She will continue to be monitored and receive support for the next few years. Our dad is still battling with his ill health and is being cared for in hospital. He is now too frail to undergo treatment and we are grateful for every day we still have with him. It's difficult to talk about and wish there could have been something that could be done at an earlier stage. I say the same as I did before this devastation knocked on our door - I do this for my kids and their kids... no-one should have to go through this. We try to keep life as normal as possible, but the dark cloud hangs over our heads at all times. Brave faces and attitudes painted on. Say no to cancer. X
