Andy sadly passed away peacefully in the early hours on 4th June at home surrounded by the love of his family. Unfortunately I did not attend the race on this day but have arranged to run the Race for Life on 2nd July 2017 in memory of my brother. ___________________________ My brother is 24 and has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. He is fighting the sleepless nights, the sickness, the endless medication and hospital visits to name a few. He has worked with the Oxford Clinical Trials Unit to help find a cure and unfortunately he did not respond positively to the treatment. He started a course of chemotherapy which after two rounds the doctors did not see any improvement in his condition and stopped treatment. He is now receiving radiotherapy on his brain due to the cancer spreading from his oesophagus to his liver, to his blood, bones, lymph nodes and to his brain. This will hopefully help to lessen the symptoms of his brain cancer by stunting the growth of the tumours. He has had many procedures in the past few months which has taken its toll on him physically and emotionally. I can only begin to explain his story. My mother has been there with him every step of the way supporting him and making sure he has everything he could possibly need. She counts out his medication daily, takes him to his appointments and sits with him at all hours of the night. She is an absolute star, being strong not only for her son but for her daughter and the rest of our family. My brother is - and always - will be where I draw my strength from. He is a fighter and my motivation behind this fundraising page is to raise money to help find a cure against this awful disease that is absolutely heart breaking to the individuals concerned and their families. Lets beat cancer sooner.
