My Story
I am living with metastatic breast cancer, having been diagnosed initially as stage 2 then stage 3 in my first year of marriage in 2017 at just 41. 2019 brought the news that my cancer has already progressed to stage 4. Despite having experience of my mum going through breast cancer twice, the journey has still been full of surprises. The biggest surprise is how it seemingly changes everything and yet changes nothing. My life is really good and I still smile and laugh loads each day, cancer hasn't been able to take that away from me, and I'll be darned if it ever will. I know how lucky I am to have a fantastic husband, a loving family back in Scotland and a great bunch of in-laws. The in-laws have really gone above and beyond and my family and I are incredibly grateful for their support. Added to that I have friends, colleagues and an employer who have gone beyond the call of duty and without whom I wouldn't be getting through this. Last but not least I must mention the wonderful medical team looking after me, we are incredibly blessed to have them in Jersey and I hope they know how appreciated they are. I am looking forward to living the life I have ahead of me and hopefully helping and supporting others through their own diagnosis.
