My first official charity run - for my Mother Susan, who succumbed to pancreatic cancer aged 56.
My Story
My first official charity run - for my Mother Susan, who succumbed to pancreatic cancer aged 56. This left myself, at the time aged 22, my brother aged 19 and our Father reeling. I also run for the people in my life who have beaten and are currently fighting cancer: Ronnie, Maggie, Susan, Brenda, Mel <3 Cancer is a multifaceted disease that can be many things, be it cunning and insidious, or a hard and fast hitter. The suffering that it can cause makes one question a lot about life and particularly those who are left behind in its wake. We can be certain about one thing and that is that once you have dealt with this Beast, whether it be directly or through a loved one, there is no stronger motivation to do something, anything that might give others the slightest fighting chance against it, save them from what you have endured. I don't ask for money, but for you to please spare a thought for the ones that you know (because you will) who have been affected and try to do something positive for them, with love. The knowledge of people doing good things will propel me way beyond these impending 10000m. I thank you for taking the time to read this story. Lorna x Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 10k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now. Donating through this page is simple, fast and totally secure.
