My Story

A challenge in aid of Cancer Research UK, for motorcyclists on cheap and inappropriate motorcycles to ride from Land’s End to John O'Groats in just 24hrs on the longest day of the year. Bikes must have been bought for no more than £600! Riders often spend their winters restoring bikes to fully working order just for the challenge - some even get DIY custom paint jobs. The route is planned by the organisers and involves no motorways! It takes in some fantastic scenic routes around the UK, with the odd ferry and tunnel where needed. The roads at times are patchy at best, and the local wildlife is a difficult obstacle in the more remote areas. The Broom Wagon sweeps up at the back of the pack should anyone need assistance, but the riders are supported by dozens of volunteers along the route who provide refreshment, support, and technical assistance to all riders. This ensures that most, if not all riders make it to the finish for a well earned rest... before heading home. Clocking up 2000 miles in a few days is arduous enough for us on 4 wheels sharing the driving, so imagine it alone on 2. Your support is as ever, hugely appreciated. Julian & Matt
