1000 miles in 24 hours on the longest day of the year. Land's End to John O’Groats on a shoestring budget motorcycle.
My Story
I’m taking on The Longest Day Up 2026 — a 1,000-mile ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats on the longest day of the year, and I’ll be doing it on a shoestring-budget motorcycle. Around 40 riders will be attempting the challenge, which is run entirely by volunteers. It’s a brilliant, slightly bonkers day out for a serious cause — and it’s designed to be tough, with a bit of real jeopardy thrown in. Cancer has touched my family in more ways than one. My wife was treated for breast cancer in 2024; I lost a sister to childhood leukaemia; and I have a close relative currently living with cancer. That’s why this matters so much to me. This ride is my way of turning those experiences into something positive — supporting the research that improves treatments, extends lives, and gives families hope. This won’t be an easy day. I’m expecting 20+ hours in the saddle, mostly on A and B roads, in whatever the weather decides to throw at us — rain or shine, and well into the night. And because the rules say the bike must cost no more than £600, it’s a test of both rider and machine. If you’re able to sponsor me, I’d be hugely grateful — every donation helps Cancer Research UK continue the work that means so much to so many of us.
