My Story
Thank you for visiting my Fundraising Page. The money I raise will help fund life-saving research and to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. At age 48, I was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer in March 2020, and by May 2021 I was given an all clear from Addenbrookes hospital, Cambridge. I am learning to cope with side effects from treatment and have one more operation to go, but still cannot find the words to fully express how grateful I am for my life. I did not loose my hair (dredlocks of 33 years) through my chemo treatment, so I have decided to join all those going through treatment and hair loss by cutting off my locks and raising some money for Cancer Research in the process. In 2012 my sister Rebecca, age 25, passed away from cancer, of which she was previously a survivor at age 14. I saw her go through hair loss on both occasions, which must have been awful for a young girl. She was a rock though, and even if it did phase her, she'd have never let you see that. So I am doing this for the kids and women especially that have to endure that, and for you too Rebecca, I miss you, x #westandtogether I've added a couple photos below of my journey, although I didn't grab many along the way. Even if you can only donate a pound, please do so, every penny will help save more lives. I'm planning to cut my locks off somewhere in July, so please help me raise up some funds asap. Thanks in advance to you all, biggest of love and respect as ever... Loftie
