My Story
In 2020, my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. Despite being in the middle of a pandemic, the doctors and nurses were great and following a series a virtual hospital appointments, she was treated quickly. At the end of 2021, her year post-treatment check-up confirmed that the cancer had thankfully not returned. However, without the knowledge and research available to us today, this could have been a very different story. This year I have, therefore, decided to run a 10k to raise money for Cancer Research. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Cancer is complex. There are over 200 types of cancer, most of which have different biology and behaviour. With your support, our dedicated researchers can continue to discover better ways to prevent, detect and treat this disease, and bring about a world where everybody lives longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer.
