My Story
Me (Linus) and my two best friends (Matt and Jamie ) are cycling from London to Paris to raise money and awareness for Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma. The event will take place over 3 days. We will leave on Wednesday the 19th of June and arrive in Paris (hopefully) on Friday the 21st. The reason for supporting this particular charity: I suffered from T-cell NHL at the age of 14. I was given three days to live at my worst. It had a massive impact on my life, so far altering many of my life-choices in a variety of ways. After the successful treatment, due to the drugs that were administered I suffered from avascular necrosis causing me to be the youngest person in the UK to have a double hip replacement at the age of 16. This still effects me even now; in my shoulders which are slowly deteriorating over time. However, I am still fit, healthy and exercise regularly. My personal reasons for doing this are that want to inspire people to believe that they can be more than the cancer and not to let it dominate your lives after treatment. I would really like people to rekindle the desire to live and be adventurous. It is so easy to plateau and accept the hand of fate has dealt you terrible cards, but you can make something of yourself and be successful. Thank you for visiting our Fundraising Page. The money we raise will help fund life-saving research and to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. Thank you for taking the time to read this! With love, Jamie, Matt and Linus
