My Story
Cancer is a matter that has been, and remains prevalent in my life. I never imagined by the age of thirty-one, I'd have had first hand experience of the dreaded 'C' word. Both myself and one of my closest friends Laura have faced our own cancer journeys over the past few years. Thankfully for me, my four young children and the rest of my family, I was lucky enough to find myself in remission from stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma following 6 months of intensive treatment. Without the astounding work undertaken by organisations such as Cancer Research UK, I would not still be here. Laura on the other hand is still fighting her battle - like an absolute trooper may I add! Although researchers have made incredible progress over recent years, there's still such a long way to go. Cancer Research UK need our support to enable them continue pushing forward and innovating new treatments. Treatments that will help people like Laura who are facing more complex cancers, for which we have yet to find successful options. Cancer is happening right now and it effects so many of us. I'd like to do my bit to raise money so that we can continue to progress and save lives. In this instance, my bit will involve making an absolute fool of myself by clambering over inflatables (probably in a very unladylike like fashion) whilst getting covered in mud. There will be many embarrassing photos, lots of laughs and fingers crossed - no major injuries. I'm doing this for you my gorgeous Laura, I hope you appreciate it ;-) Any donations, however small, will be gratefully received and will go directly towards helping so many people beat this beast.
