A year ago Jamie’s Grandad Don was diagnosed with cancer.... and within just a few weeks Don lost his fight with this cruel disease. Jamie’s family were devestated! Jamie said “ The hardest part was not being able to do anything to stop it! We could only watch as this evil disease took the strongest most kind hearted inspirational man we had ever known! Our lives would never be the same again.. We took comfort knowing that Hospice IOM did everything they could to make him as comfortable as possible in his last days and hours. They were amazing through it all” We have all lost or know someone fighting cancer right now and with your support we have pledged to raise £800 to help raise funds for life saving research into all 200 types of cancer and anything over this (hopefully match it!) to give to Hospice IOM Hospice IOM Provide compassionate care for all those with life limiting illnesses Lets bring forward the day when all cancers are cured! When Jamie asked if anyone would like to run a Half Marathon with him in memory of his grandad Don I jumped at the chance! I had given up smoking several years ago wishing to learn to run but after a couple of attempts at only ever getting round the block I gave up. Anyone that knows me knows that even at school I would only ever make it to faggers lane in the cross country then wait for the leaders return to join the group back. Jamie with his work and family commitments can not at the moment attend football training regularly but is willing to focus on running and training me to run. He has a massive challenge ahead especially as him and his partner Amy (my Niece) have a 4 year old daughter and another baby due in just a few weeks! Sleepless nights may take its toll! With your help and support to encourage us we will complete The Great North Run 13.5 Miles in Newcastle! (All expenses paid by ourselves) we hope to make Don and our family’s proud!
