My Story
Every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer. It is a disease that ravages through families. Many of you may know my family's story: My mum was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1999 when I was four years old. At the time, I didn't understand what was going on as she was still taking me to school and acting normal whilst fighting the disease. Thankfully her operation and chemo worked and my mum was going into remission until 2003 when the cancer came back. I will never forget seeing my mum in hospital after her second operation. November 2018 we were told that the breast cancer has returned for a third me. It is this which has spurred me on to raise money and run the half marathon next year. At the start of 2017, my dad was told he had a 90% likelihood of prostate cancer. Luckily, no chemo was necessary and an operation was all that was needed to remove the affected areas. However, complications have meant the road to recovery was long and still at times, ongoing. My Gran, was also diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2017. It came as quite a shock to us all, however she battled through the operation and is now in top form as always! I am so proud of my family, they always remain resolute no matter the situation. This is my second run for charity having done the 10k Glasgow Scottish run in 2017 and will now try and finish a half marathon. I am hopefully there will be many more runs from me for cancer research. It is a cause which is incredibly close to my heart and if you can support in anyway, I would very much appreciate it. Thank you xxx
